Healthy Snacks

Healthy snacks are important because they supply nutrients for growth, provide energy and enable children to think clearer, help develop good eating habits early in life, and help to include all food groups in the daily diet.

The 4 year old group has a tree nut allergy. Please read all labels carefully, however the teachers will always read labels at school. We ask that if you are purchasing cupcakes for birthdays please read labels as most store bought cupcakes say made on machines that process tree nuts. Birthdays do not have to have cupcakes; some other suggestions are yogurt parfaits, pudding cups, cookies, ice cream bars, etc.

ALL JUICE must be 100% juice. This is required by the state. Three bottles or cans will probably be enough for the week. If more is needed we will let you know.

You can bring in snack at the beginning of the week or by the day, whichever is easiest for you. We will let you know if more is needed.

We like to offer the children at least two choices, as we sometimes have those picky eaters. We recommend one fruit or veggie with one kind of snack item per session. Here are some suggestions, and please feel free if you don’t see an item on the list to check with us.
